Guest panel to present The Faces of Israel Feb. 29
Wednesday, 2/29, in Gannett
A panel discussion titled "Faces of Israel" is scheduled at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, in Gannett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
The program features a delegation of six Israelis representing a variety of religions, cultures, and political views who will share stories that emphasize the pluralistic, multicultural, and democratic character of the state of Israel.
"Faces of Israel" is a dialogue-enhancing team of young Israelis ? Jews and Arabs natural-born and immigrants; gay and straight; religious and secular ? who have embarked on a world tour to engage with college students and communities from around the globe about their personal experiences, without shying away from the complex political and cultural issues Israel faces.
Participants are from the Galilee, the Negev, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and places
in between; they are aspiring lawyers, social workers and diplomats; they are communications
professionals and economists.
The panel will address current Israeli issues, including women's rights, Israeli-Palestinian
relationships, and the effect of war on civilians. Skidmore sophomore Erika Wohl coordinated
the program as her Honors Forum citizenship project.
