Tang exhibition to showcase work of senior art majors

A tradition continues as Skidmore's annual studio art majors' Senior Thesis Exhibition takes place May 11-20 at the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery. An opening reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 pm Friday, May 11. The Department of Art sponsors the exhibition.

A total of 47 senior studio art majors will display their work as a capstone to their studies at Skidmore. The department provides courses in numerous studio-art disciplines including ceramics, communication design, drawing and painting, electronic media, fiber arts, metals, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. 

Student awards in the Art Department this year were as follows:theJohn P. Heins Outstanding Senior Thesis Exhibition Award went to Nina Bocobo'12;theDorothy Dryfoos Olsan '41 Prize in Jewelry and Metalsmithing,Karen Donovan'12;  theMarguerita MergentimeAwardin Textiles,Elizabeth Kennedy'12;the Barbara Greene Wild Award in Ceramics, Caroline Bailey '14;  thePamela Weidenman '72 Memorial Prizein Printmaking, Evan Cohen '12;  andthe Jesse Solomon Memorial Award in Painting,Ella Davidson'12.

Studio art faculty chose to recognize the following as receiving Senior Thesis Exhibition Honors:  Nina Bocobo, Sarah Christie, Evan Cohen, Ella Davidson, Rachel Fisher, Victoria Manganiello, Ripley Sager, and Melissa Schlobohm.

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Hours at the Tang are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. During Commencement Week, the hours will be Thursday, May 17, noon-9 p.m.; Friday, May 18, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, May 19, noon-6 p.m.; and Sunday, May 20, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
