Field Hockey, Men's Soccer head to league semis; winter teams start

Field hockey and men’s soccer kept the Skidmore fall sports season alive last week with both teams earning a spot in the Liberty League semifinal. Last week proved to be the end of the season for both volleyball and women’s soccer, and marked the start of the winter campaign for swimming and diving and ice hockey.

FIELD HOCKEY (13-5, 4-2 Liberty League)

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Dani DeGregory ’16 had two goals and two assists against Oneonta and contributed two goals and three assists against Nazareth, leaving her two points shy of the Skidmore career point record of 264.
  • Krista Lamoreaux ’17 netted two goals in both games and also added an assist against Nazareth.
  • Gabby Hyman ’19 tallied her 13th goal of the season against Nazareth.
  • Zoe McGuire ’18 made three saves against the Golden Flyers for her fourth shutout of the season.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Skidmore clinched its second Liberty League postseason berth in three seasons with a 1-0 win against Union.
  • Todd Jensen’s ’16 penalty kick goal 6:02 into the game proved to be the winner.
  • Eli Kisselbach ’16 made all four of his saves in the second half for his eighth shutout of the season, tying him for the program’s single-season record.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The team battled back from two sets down to beat Potsdam 3-2 in its opening match of the Skidmore Invitational.
  • Caite Canfield ’19 produced a double-double in all three matches. She had 21 kills and 19 digs to go along with three assists against Postdam, 17 kills and 12 digs against Geneseo and 15 kills and 11 digs against New Paltz.
  • Bailey Hutchins ’19 also had a double-double against Potsdam and Geneseo. She notched 33 assists and 15 digs against the Bears and 38 assists and 14 digs against the Knights.
  • Allie Dillon ’19 registered 20 digs, four aces and eight kills against Potsdam
  • Rachel Licata ’18 posted four blocks against both Geneseo and New Paltz.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hiro Kamei ’19 set a new program record in the 100-yard breaststroke in a first-place finish against St. Lawrence. Kamei also won the 200-yard individual medley against the Saints and the 100-yard breaststroke against Potsdam.
  • Gabriel Salitan-Alvarez ’17 took first in the 500 and 1000-yard freestyle against St. Lawrence and in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle against Potsdam.
  • The 200-yard medley relay team of Kamei, Harrison Shockley ’19,Teague Costello ’19 and Charlie Bullis ’16 placed first in both meets.
  • Yookee Roh ’16 took first in the 200-yard freestyle against St. Lawrence and added a first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley against the Bears.
  • Erin Donovan ’17 finished first in the 100-yard backstroke in both meets.
  • The 200-yard medley relay team of Roh, Donovan, Caroline Tuttle ’17 and Claire Stetten ’19 touched first in both meets.

  • Deirdre Walsh ’17 tied a season-high with eight saves against RPI.
  • Alyssa Rollins ’18 stopped five shots in the second half against Nazareth.

  • Andreas Michailidis ’18 and Anthony Bird ’17 each tallied in the team’s season-opener.
  • Marc Cibelli ’17, Kenny Nelson ’18 and Max Hegge ’19 each produced an assist.
