Thoroughbreds set to wrap the semester

The first semester is coming to a quick close for Skidmore’s winter teams.

Men’s Basketball

The 3-1 Thoroughbreds received votes in the Nov. 30 NCAA Division III national poll, coming off a 94-69 Nov. 23 win over SUNY Plattsburgh. The team closes out the semester at home at 4 p.m. Dec. 5 against Middlebury College. Isaac Carp ’16 scored a team-high 19 points in the Plattsburgh game to earn Liberty League Performer of the Week honors.

Women’s Basketball

Skidmore is off to a 4-2 start after an 82-73 victory Nov. 23 over Hamilton College. The women close the semester at home against Middlebury at 2 p.m. Dec. 5. Kelly Donnelly ’18 was selected to the Liberty League Honor Roll for the week ending Nov. 29 after scoring 19 points to go along with six steals in the Hamilton contest.

Ice Hockey

The Thoroughbreds tied SUNY Potsdam 3-3 in the consolation game of the Skidmore Invitational Nov. 28-29. First-year head coach Rob Hutchison’s team has played five nationally ranked teams in its first nine games and amassed a 2-6-1 record. Marc Cibelli ’17 earned a place on the New England Hockey Conference Honor Roll for the week ending Nov. 29. He had a hand in all five goals scored by the Thoroughbreds in the Invitational, including two goals and an assist against Potsdam. The team closes out the semester with a pair of games at No. 12 Hobart College Dec. 4-5.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving

The teams were off last week and will wrap the semester at the Dec. 4-5 Liberty League championships at Rensselaer.
