Welcoming #Skidmore2020

October 18, 2016

Marla Melito ’93, student academic development coordinator for the First Year Experience, and student Facebook advisor Joe Doino ’18 are on the front lines of assisting students in the class of 2020 as they begin their college careers at Skidmore.

Like other institutions, Skidmore employs a student Facebook advisor to help the incoming class transition from high school to college. Doino was hired in the spring of 2015 and has been acting as an “online peer mentor” in the Facebook group for the Class of 2020. He answers questions, reminds students of deadlines, and serves as a liaison between the class and the FYE office.

On the This is Skidmore podcast, Doino shares his experiences getting to know the Class of 2020 and what makes them unique, while Meltio delves into the FYE program and why it matters.

This is Skidmore can be found on Soundcloud and iTunes.
