Both Nick Petrella '15 and Keirsten Sires '15 were student athletes at Skidmore; Petrella a pitcher on the baseball team, and Sires participating on the Women's Tennis and Soccer teams, as well as the club ice hockey team, intramural soccer team, and intramural softball team. Inside the classroom, Petrella and Sires were team members in MB350, Entrepreneurship and Small Business, and developed an idea based on their recruitment experience.

Locker Room Talk, they called it, was inspired by websites similar to RateMyPofessor.com, allowing students to provide ratings and reviews as a resource to others. Reflecting on their recruitment experiences, Petrella and Sires developed a means of bringing this resource specifically to prospective athletes.

LockerRoomTalk.com was developed as an idea in 2014, and was brought to life as a fully functioning website in 2015. The company continues to grow and build partnerships with third-parties, including Huddle and Sports Illustrated on the horizon.
