Course Requirements

**COURSE REQUIREMENTS**
ORAL PRESENTATIONS/SEMINAR PAPERS ON GALINSKY: 15% PARTICIPATION: 10%	Each student will lead a class discussion on a portion of Galinsky's Augustan Culture during weeks 2-5. Each discussion leader will need to prepare a "seminar paper" which will guide the discussions. All seminar papers will be posted to the web beginning February 11th; those delivered prior to February 11th must by posted to the web by then. Participation in these discussions by the rest of the class both in the classroom and the Newsgroup, as well as by all students in other class discussions over the course of the semester, amounts to 10% of the grade.
RESEARCH PAPER: 75%	Students will devote weeks 6-13 to a piece of original research. Various components of the paper will receive grades: Preliminary thesis & bibliography due Tuesday, March 23rd; rough draft due April 15th: 10% Preliminary presentation March 23, 25, 30, April 1 (20 mins. each): 10% Paper abstract (1-2 p. summary) due Thursday, April 1st: 10% Final presentationApril 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 (40 mins. each): 10% Final paper due May 4th: 35% NOTE: ALL WRITTEN ASPECTS OF THE PAPER WILL BE HANDED IN ON PAPER AND POSTED TO THE WEB SIMULTANEOUSLY.
