Skidmore College Department of Classics

Writing in Classics is a virtual guide to writing essays and research papers in and about the discipline of Classical Studies. The target audience is Skidmore College undergraduate students enrolled in courses offered by the Classics Department. There is nevertheless much information in these pages that is pertinent to other disciplines and modes of writing.

The guide has two main divisions:

• Essays - writing brief responses to particular questions or exploring issues from a more personal point of view.
  
• Research papers - engaging secondary sources as part of an extended thesis.
