On the Web     Ancient Greek Theater

A delightfully low-tech series of web pages on Greek tragedy and comedy developed by Walter Englert, Professor of Classics at Reed College.  An excellent introduction to the topic.

The crown jewel of this collection is the page on Staging an Ancient Greek Play, which describes how a fifth-century tragic poet might go about putting on plays at the Dionysia, from the application process to the awards ceremony — with cameo appearances by Sophocles, Euripides, and Socrates.
