American String Quartet 2015

Eleventh Annual Skidmore College

String Festival

March 6-8, 2015

Invitation to Qualified High School String Quartets

Dear Colleagues in Music,

As part of the Elisabeth Luce Moore Music Residency, Skidmore College is excited to announce the Eleventh Annual Skidmore College String Festival, featuring world-renowned The American String Quartet as artists-in-residence.  We invite established high school string quartets to apply for participation in this year's Festival.

Invited quartets will join Skidmore students for a weekend of individual, non-competitive coaching with the dynamic American String Quartet and Skidmore Faculty; performance of a prepared work of your choice in the acoustically spectacular Helen Ladd Concert Hall in the new Zankel Music Center; join artist faculty, all festival quartets and the American String Quartet on stage for the Festival Finale in a group performance. Skidmore College offers this annual event at no cost to students and will host the invited quartets as guests.

A highlight of the Festival will be a performance by the American String Quartet on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 8:00 pm.  Tickets for this event are available on the Zankel web site or by calling (518) 580-5321.  We also welcome all string players and other music enthusiasts to attend all other festival events which are open to the public and free of charge.

This Festival has proven to be a valuable musical experience for high school string players, while giving them the opportunity to explore Skidmore College as a resource for their educational journey.

Since space is limited, I encourage your students to apply early, and welcome the opportunity to speak with you or your students about their interest in and preparation for this inspiring weekend of music making.

I look forward to hearing from you.
