Barbara Hunt Burner is a proud mother and grandmother. Her daughter, who recently returned from service with the US Navy, has earned a second master’s degree, this time in social work. Another daughter is a high-school teacher working on a master’s in reading. Bobbie dotes on her four granddaughters, ages 5 to 12, and keeps up with their many activities.

Lydia Pardo McMinn enjoyed a special visit with her daughter in Washington, DC, including the garden tour at Mt. Vernon and an invitation to attend the First Ladies Luncheon, given annually by the Congressional Committee to honor the First Lady. Not many can report having had lunch with Laura Bush!

Barbara Gettens Morrissey and husband Jim celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary with a trip to Ireland in April. They spend winters near Stuart, FL, and summers in their North Haven, NY, home to be closer to three children and seven grandchildren in New England.
Enjoying new-found vistas via the Internet, Susan Kellogg Cook now stays in touch with Lilli Brunner Kalmenson, Joan Gray Knauss Kittredge, Diane Webb Mackey, and Jill Shelling Remy—and hopes to encourage them to attend the big 55th in 2009!

Jill Shelling Remy keeps Patricia Kennedy Snyderman posted on her world travels, which this summer included a tour of Eastern Europe—cities in Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, and Poland—far from her home in China! The trip included a sad tour of Auschwitz/ Birkenau.

In July Connie Kellert Goldstein, our intrepid class president, presided over a planning meeting for our 55th reunion on campus. Jo Schmidt Madden, Marcie Clausen Gray, and I promised not to let the glow go, and you will soon be hearing what’s in store for May 28–31, 2009. Mark your calendars—you won’t want to miss it.

Early in July, Bruce and I were welcomed by Sallie Neuweiler Henrie and Art to their wonderful new digs in Newtown, PA. We enjoyed dinner together and much laughter, as well as a few tears remembering wonderful old times and friends. Now that we’re virtually neighbors, we hope to repeat the joy on a regular basis.
