What a reunion! Thank you to all who worked to make those three days so special, including president Bev Beatson Grossman, fund chair Betty Jennisen Brady, and reunion chair Mary Avery Gessner. We also applaud Monica Reis de Janosi, who was honored for her many years of class volunteerism—including the compilation of our class history, Reflections—and

Joosje Wethly Anderson-Boehm
, who designed our 50th reunion memento, a beautiful silk scarf.

Anne Bachman Walmsley and husband Doug, who had hoped to attend Reunion, watched their first grandson graduate from prep school in Denver and also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family at daughter Lynne’s.

Margretta Beishline Lisick and Frank were feted by their three daughters in Williamsville, NY. Margretta is enjoying selling real estate and getting “dressed up” and out of the house every day. Her eldest daughter is a Skidmore graduate: Roma Lisick Armstrong ’81.

Barbara Osborne Vulkoff and husband Craig celebrated their 50th with friends in Phoenix, AZ, and with family at the Del Coronado in California.

Sidney Wright Coursen and husband Beau celebrated their 50th anniversary last December. Sid had saved her receipt from the Waldorf Astoria, where they honeymooned, and returned for their 50th for $25 plus roses and chocolate strawberries!

Tom and I enjoyed three days in the Adirondacks at Hemlock Lodge with Sid Coursen and Beau, and Oz Vulkoff and Craig. The laughs were not enough to drive off the black flies, but the boating was lovely.

Sally Bacheller Wagenbach and husband Otto reuned at Dartmouth’s 50th after our bash. They are enjoying life in Texas and also have a home in the Catskills.

After a fulfilling career as a psychoanalyst, Susan Sprague Brady now volunteers with Hospice. Active in sailing, she spent two weeks in the Greek Islands. She is also taking classes in art and figure work.

Barbara Fritts Dixon, recently widowed, still works in a clinical laboratory after 43 years. An avid birder, she volunteers at the local chapter of the Audubon Society. She enjoys traveling and camping all over the country.

Mary Avery Gessner, who spent so much energy as reunion chair, still finds time to share with her family and grandchildren as well as engage in volunteer work, travel, and golf. She and husband Russ divide their time between Cape Cod, Nantucket, and La Jolla. We wish her luck with two knee replacements.

After 24 years in elementary-school teaching, Margaret Holahan Bilek is retired and happily playing tennis, golf, and bridge.

Gretchen Koehring Strong was sorry that she couldn’t make it to Reunion. Her husband, Toby, died in April. She is busy trying to get her life reorganized, running their B&B and finally learning how to use the computer. She says it’s wonderful to have both sons and their families living nearby on Mount Desert Island in Maine.

Paula Dow Kurtz and her lawyer husband live in her great-grandmother’s house in Hope, ME, where she raised a son and three daughters, one of whom attended Skidmore for two years. The other children went off to Colgate, Wheaton, and Hofstra. Paula also raises dogs, cats, and a pony!

Judith Podlesney enjoyed Reunion, connecting with fellow nursing majors, as did Heidi Herrick DiCapua, who said that her husband enjoyed the three days and seeing the old and new campuses.

It was fun to see Carol Smith Ankerson and live for a moment in her world of writing and publishing books (a dream of mine). Carol lives in Burlington, VT.

When I saw Meredith Edwards Olson, I was reminded of the many late nights editing Eromdiks in the “smoker.” Meredith lives in Maryland. Nancy Wiedenman Lester, who still had her freshman “beanie,” is busy volunteering at the Saratoga Springs Historical Society and an area soup kitchen. She is still knitting scarves, in two patterns.

Tom and I enjoyed the summer in Boothbay, with lots of sailing, cookouts with grandchildren, and running the law office. For all of you who did not get to Reunion, plan on going in 2013. To quote Connie Masciale Carino: “Age sets no boundaries.”
