On July 24, some major events took place! Many of us attended a pre-reunion gathering to plan for our big 50th, May 28–31, 2009. The other big event (at least for my family) was that I turned 70 and my first grandchild turned 1. As you can guess, I did not go to Saratoga.

Anne-Marie Philippe De Tourbet and Francis have been traveling: one week in Naples, Italy, and additional time in Marseille, France. They are expecting their sixth grandchild in September.

Evy Zoda Shippee was also in France, joining Beth Oliver Linguri (now a Swiss citizen), who was their group leader along with husband Edward. Sue Gosch Martineau, Syl Smalley Chapman, and all the spouses (Evy’s Bob as well), and Syl’s daughter Carol, joined them. They visited chateaus, had great food and wine, and shared many laughs. The Loire Valley and Provence were included in the several-weeks visit.

Linda Amerling Scull and husband Pete have three daughters and seven grandchildren, all of whom live nearby. “We are so lucky,” says Linda. Her eldest grandchild, a high-school junior, will soon be looking at colleges—which reminds Linda that her 50th reunion is at hand. She and Pete are co-chairs of a project in Rowayton, CT, to preserve 16 acres of marsh area. Linda is not certain she will make it to our 50th, as Pete has his 50th as well and is very involved in his school.
