Festival of scholars

A Mirror for Fools: The Book of Burnel the Ass is presented by medieval-drama students Joshua Bender ’02 and John Keyes ’02, as part of Skidmore’s fourth annual Academic Festival in April. The all-day campuswide event featured about 150 students presenting some sixty research projects, performances, internship reports, and other creative work—exploring topics from metabolic effects of green-tea extract to use of Qur’an verses by Ghanaian healers, from Kant’s theory of pleasure to the world of nature in Mary Oliver’s poems, from the roots of the American Indian Movement to TV advertising of prescription drugs to the role of parents in special education. Sponsors of the festival include the Periclean honor society and Honors Forum. —SR
