Dina Gluckin Relkin’s 21-year-old daughter is a senior at Stony Brook University, majoring in art history. Dina is a fashion editor/consultant at the Tobe Report in New York. Her second husband, Donald, a corporate lawyer, succumbed to cancer last November. Dina says they had 10 “fantastically wonderful” years together. Donald came to our 20th reunion, and reveled in Dina’s retelling of all her Skidmore stories.
Lisa Laidlaw reports that professor emeritus Jim Kettlewell visited the Skidmore Club of Chicago last fall. He guided about 25 alums and spouses (or equivalent) around Oak Park, IL, the heart of Frank Lloyd Wright’s early and mid-career work. Lisa says, “Jim was really a standout in my time at Skidmore.” Try as she might, Lisa cannot interest her college-bound stepdaughter in Skidmore (she wants to be in a city).
Anne Schechter Kasper has been living in Richmond, VA, since 1992. Daughter Rebecca is a freshman at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN; Caroline is a high-school sophomore at St. Catherine’s School, where Priscilla is an eighth-grader. Anne’s husband, Tom, is the owner of Kasper Mortgage Capital, specializing in financing historic and low-income housing. Anne worked hard last fall to help Democrat Tim Kaine get elected as Virginia’s governor, and is doing the usual volunteer work at school. She also does needlepoint.
Howard Silverman lives in Dover, MA, with wife Maryellen. After Skidmore he graduated from Washington University School of Medicine and did postgraduate training at Massachusetts General and Brigham & Women’s Hospitals in Boston. In 1993 he earned his JD from Boston College Law School, then founded IntrinsiQ Research, now the leading provider of oncology data to the pharmaceutical industry, based on a clinical software application he wrote (a skill learned at Skidmore). He likes to fly planes, grow vegetables, and golf. Daughter Jessica is a first-year medical student at Washington University, and son Justin ’08 just finished his sophomore year at Skidmore. Son Jake, 9, is a star pitcher for his Little League team, and daughter Joely, 7, is an aspiring singer, dancer, and actress. Howard can be reached at hsilverman@intrinsiq.com.
After 20 years in the insurance business Debbie Horan Sikora completed a master’s in English literature and writing at Rosemont College last year. Son Peter is a double major in economics and art at Wesleyan, where he plays on the squash team. Daughter Kyra is in eighth grade and “burns it up” on the soccer and lacrosse fields when she’s not busy with dance classes. Although she’s lived in the Philly suburbs for almost 20 years, Debbie stills gets to Nantucket every summer and visits the Bay Area as often as possible.
