Leona Kaplan Killgore, who lives in San Angelo, TX, has had a fascinating life as a journalist and political columnist. She has interviewed several Texas governors, Senator Lloyd Benson, whom she greatly admired, and even Queen Elizabeth. Although she is retired, Leona is a commentator on a Texas talk-radio show and loves it.
I also caught up by phone with Elizabeth Swartz Fisher. Swartzie rescued two greyhounds, former racing dogs, from Arizona. The breed is not only very gentle and excellent with children, but also the only universal canine blood donor. Although she recently lost one of the dogs, she is happy to have the other, 11-year-old Gracie, around to take care of her.
Joyce Nathan LeVine still lives in sunny California but she and her husband miss the changing seasons of New England. They love being part of their daughter’s and grandson’s lives. Skidmore, where their grandson is Class of ’10, “gave us wonderful memories,” she says.
It is with great sadness that I report that Mary Miller Solari passed away suddenly in August. We were so happy she was able to attend Reunion with her twin sister, Virginia, and hear us express our thanks for her work as class fund chair. She will be greatly missed.
