Suzy Eustis Bogart and Betty Hill Johnson met at their favorite Maine restaurant, Le Garage, this past summer—an annual event. Pat Gore visited Suzy at her summer place on a Maine island. Pat is doing remarkably well with her cancer. One of Suzy’s granddaughters is working for Southern Weddings magazine, a job she got right after graduating from Wheaton.
Joan Lacey Hansen and her husband spend part of the year in Evergreen, CO, where their son Richard and his wife live. The Hansens’ daughter Debbie lives in Texas and is in her 31st year as a high school coach.
Bobby Fee Dickason and husband John took a relaxing sailing trip on the Star Clipper, from Venice to Athens along the Croatian coast. Bobbie reports that Patsy Lanpher Compton, who suffers from cancer due to asbestos exposure, underwent a long operation to remove the lining of her lungs, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Her recovery will be lengthy, and she would love to hear from classmates. Bobby will provide Patsy’s address to anyone wishing to brighten her day with a note. Bobby can be reached at dickason8@aol.com.
Jacquie Bailey Martin enjoyed a visit with Joan Dymond Barnett, Ann Shaber Campney, and Cyndie Madsen Henson on Cape Cod. An active member of the Skidmore club of Cape Cod, she arranged for local alumni to meet the college’s new dean of students, Rochelle Calhoun, at the Hyannis Yacht Club. Jacquie had a great time chatting with Judy Axford McCoy and Dianne Snow Brennan and their husbands.
Helen Briwa is still showing her long-haired dachshunds. A passionate collector of vintage cars, Hie owns a 1931 Nash sedan that was selected to appear in the movie Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp. She can’t wait for our next reunion.
Sylvia Shaw Brandhorst saw many classmates during the summer and fall. She went to a couple of fun outings with Sally Sanderson Cutler and Betsy Singer Gluck. Lou Kenerson Wanless came over to Sylvia’s for a fun day of golfing; then they both played golf at Betsy’s place. Jackie McNelly and Sylvia caught up over lunch. Syl and Ellie Reponen Cronin got together too.
I enjoyed an Elderhostel in New York’s Hudson Valley with husband Roger and Joanne Teale Snell and husband Don. We visited many wineries and the Culinary Institute of America, which was very impressive.
