Update: Collyer Vice President for Advancement

Dear Members of the Skidmore Community,

I write to share news that Sean P. Campbell, Collyer Vice President for Advancement, will step down at the end of July. He will return to Chicago to become chief development officer and senior associate vice president for advancement at Loyola University Chicago.

Sean came to Skidmore from the University of Chicago, where he worked for 10 years in senior advancement positions. Before that, he worked for 10 years in advancement at Bates College, where he started his career.

Sean quickly established meaningful, productive relationships with our trustees, alumni, parents, and friends, as well as with his colleagues on the President’s Cabinet and within the Advancement division. Collegiality, compassion, and professionalism are hallmarks of his style — as is a strong competitive streak.

Working closely with the skilled, deeply committed staff across the division, he oversaw the launch of the public phase of Creating our Future: The Campaign for Skidmore. Since late 2017, he has led his team in raising nearly $75 million and pushed the Campaign over its $200 million goal four months ahead of schedule. The Campaign total now exceeds $212 million. The Skidmore Fund achieved record fundraising.

During his time at Skidmore, Sean conducted an assessment and realignment of the Advancement division to ensure the campaign’s successful conclusion, to strengthen our platform for increased fundraising and constituent-engagement, and to retain our talented employees.

Sean has been a key partner with Marie and me on our fundraising work on behalf of the College. He is already collaborating closely with President-Elect Marc Conner to ensure an effective transition for him into this important aspect of a college president’s role. They also are working on a management plan for the division following Sean’s departure. More information about this plan will be shared in the coming weeks. The expertise and long service of the current leadership team in Advancement will ensure the continued success of our fundraising and volunteer programs.

I am sorry to see Sean leave the College, but I hope you will join me in thanking him for his accomplishments on behalf of Skidmore and wishing him well in his new position.
