Location. Location. Location.

Skidmore is in the city of Saratoga Springs, a cultural center of New York’s Capital Region, and about a three-hour drive, train, or bus ride from New York City, Boston, and Montreal. The region is known for its history and natural resources — lakes, springs, mountains, trails — and our immediate backyard is filled with more restaurants, coffeeshops, and music venues than you'll have time to try.

A comprehensive residential experience

Our campus resources foster opportunities for growing your chosen family of friends, honoring your holistic wellbeing, and preparing for life after Skidmore.

Housing and dining

Great food fuels creative thought, and a residence hall is much more than a place to sleep.

Be yourself and belong

“The community here is incredibly kind. So many opportunities have opened up, not just from putting myself out there, but because people genuinely care and are open-minded. That’s why I love this school — it’s given me the space to grow and find my niche.”

Our traditions

They're all a bit ... untraditional. Which is what makes them so special to us. Here are a few of our favorites.
A student in sunglasses and a leather jacket plays guitar onstage during Skidmania, an annual concert at Skidmore College.

Skidmania

Every fall, student and faculty musicians offer their own interpretations of some of the most popular songs from 50 years ago. The concerts quickly sell out, and proceeds support community organizations.

Room•Mate

Each year, Skidmore students camp out for the chance to borrow a Matisse, Dali, or Picasso from the Tang Teaching Museum to hang in their dorms — a tradition where art truly becomes part of everyday life.

Comfest

Started by David Miner ’91 ("30 Rock," "Parks and Recreation"), Skidmore’s National College Comedy Festival unites professional comedians and college troupes — like Skidomedy and Ad Liberal Artists — for a one-of-a-kind weekend of laughs.

Club Fair

Held twice a year on the first Friday of both the fall and spring semesters, Club Fair is one of our biggest — and most loved — campus traditions. Part festival and part registration drive, this bi-annual event is full-on fun.
