In January of his junior year, Jamie Benjamin '17 headed to the Career and Internship Connections (CIC) event in New York City.  One of his interviews at this event was with AIG, a multinational finance and insurance corporation.  Today, Jamie is a financial analyst with the company.
 
CIC New York has historically hosted around 100 employers offering both internship and job opportunities to students of some of the nation's highly ranked colleges.  For Jamie, the event allowed him to apply for multiple positions.  He loved the idea of having several interviews on one day in one location.

"I originally joined AIG's internship program by participating in the NYC CIC event," said Jamie, who originally interviewed with AIG as a junior.  "It was easy to apply to numerous companies through Handshake, then just as easy to interview in one location.  If Skidmore students are looking for employment opportunities in New York City, CIC is definitely an event they should attend!"

Further info about the event:

• CIC New York is open to ALL CLASS YEARS and majors.  Employers share both jobs and internships at this event.
• Skidmore students have been offered jobs and internships as a result of interviews at past CIC events. Last year, more than 70 Skidmore students attended CIC NY.
• Students can apply for CIC opportunities November 1- November 26.  All applicants should have Handshake profiles that include class year, major, GPA, and college name.  Application materials will need to be uploaded to Handshake to apply for positions. 
• It is strongly recommended that students have their materials reviewed by the CDC prior to applying.  Drop in from 1-4 for an immediate appointment with a career coach, or schedule an appointment with a career counselor.  Do not wait until the last minute! 
• IMPORTANT!  Employers will continue to register throughout the student application period.  It is recommended that students check back regularly to review employer sign-ups and opportunities.
• CIC NY will be held at the NY Hilton Midtown, 1335 Avenue of the America. The event will include a career fair portion in the morning open to all students, and on-site interviews will take place 1-5 PM.
