Shannon's 5 Best Bets for STEM/Healthcare Connect

Shannon RodriguezOn February 7,  Skidmore students will participate in STEM/Healthcare Connect, a job, internship and graduate school career fair focused on opportunities in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and healthcare industries.  This event welcomes students  from eight colleges throughout the Capital District: Albany College of Pharmacy of Health Sciences, Siena College, Skidmore College, SUNY Schenectady, The College of Saint Rose, The Sage Colleges, University at Albany, and Union College.   Attendance is open to all class years and majors.

Shannon Rodriguez is the Career Development Center's Associate Director for Integrated Sciences & Health Professions.  Her work focuses on students interested in healthcare and science & technology sectors.  Shannon shares her "best bets" for STEM/Healthcare Connect.

  1. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals

Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions.  With corporate and research and development headquarters in Tarrytown, NY, and a manufacturing facilility in Rensselaer, the company offers robust and competitive jobs and internships.  Bonus:  The company is raffling off a $250 Amazon gift card to a lucky attendant of STEM/Healthcare Connect.

2.  Epic

Coming from Madison, Wisconsin, healthcare software giant, Epic, will be at attendance at STEM/Healthcare Connect.  The company is consistently ranked as a top employer offering competitive pay and and a culture that includes motivating, intelligent and driven colleagues.  It's no surprise several Skidmore alumni have pursued careers there!

3. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation

There are many careers available in the environmental field, and DEC offers exciting opportunities for qualified individuals looking to make a difference in environmental protection and natural resource management.

4. Tufts Medical Center

Located in the heart of Boston, Tufts Medical Center is an academic medical facility offering numerous opportunities. The center has notified STEM/Healthcare Connect planners that they will be actively recruiting at this event for Research Coordinators, Medical Assistants, and even finance roles.  To learn more, click here.

5. The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation

This foundation offers numerous, prestigious fellowship opportunities that aim to develop leaders to meet the nation's most critical challenges.  Through this Foundation, A Skidmore student recently was accepted into The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program,  funded by the U.S. Department of State, that attracts and prepares outstanding young people for Foreign Service careers in the U.S. Department of State.   We encourage students to stop by their booth and explore their offerings!
