Are you wondering what it takes to gain clinical health experiences? Are you unsure about which path in healthcare to pursue? Do you need help building your resume, or writing personal statements?
 
Collaborating with Denise Evert, PhD, Chair of the Health Professions Advisory Committee, the CDC is assisting in bringing healthcare professionals to the classroom. These presentations, which provide inside looks into a variety of healthcare professions, are also open to members of the Skidmore pre-health community.

"Through meeting various health professionals, students gain an awareness of what it’s really like to work in that health profession, while also learning about experiences that can prepare them for that career," said Shannon Rodriguez, Associate Director of the Healthcare and Science & Technology career communities. "Students will learn about what a typical day looks like, understand the academic rigor and commitment of entering a specific profession, and enhance their networking skills by practicing with a network of health professionals."

So far this semester, pre-health students have had the opportunity to interact with Skidmore alumna, Becca Lipstein ‘17, who is currently pursuing an 18-month accelerated nursing degree at The University of Pennsylvania.  In a presentation that focused on careers in pain management, students also met Dr. Martin Ferrillo, D.O. and Dr. Edward A. Apicella, M.D.

In addition to being great networking opportunities, the programs encourage discussion around current issues and hot topics in the health care fields.
