Skidmore career counselor, Lauren Sisson, who specializes in Arts, Communications and Media, recently spoke with Ezra Levy '15 about serving as a career advisor.

Skidmore's Career Advisor Network is a Skidmore-exclusive database made up of alumni and parents- such as Ezra-  eager to share their career experiences and advice. 

While at Skidmore, Ezra was a Management & Business major and a media studies minor. He has multiple years of media and adtech experience in traditional, digital, and TV, filling roles as a researcher, project manager, product specialist, and strategist. Ezra currently resides in the San Francisco area, and works in productions operations at LiveRamp.

Lauren: Ezra, thanks for serving as a career advisor for Skidmore.  Why is being an advisor important to you? 

Ezra: The Career Advisor Network was such a huge help for me during school and immediately following graduation. The network opened doors and folks provided mentorship and advice that was invaluable. This is one of the best parts of the Skidmore community, and I want to pay it forward any chance I get.

Lauren: Why should Skidmore students interested in Media & Communications reach out to you?

Ezra:  Media and Communications is at an important intersection of hard-skill technologies, creative disciplines, and business strategy-- a perfect combination for Skidmore students and graduates. In a few short years, I've worked across the media landscape, from Film and Advertising to Product Strategy and Tech, so I hope I can be a good resource for motivated folks coming into the field. 

Lauren:  Last question: As an advisor, what is your favorite piece of career advice?

Ezra: Be like a duck. Stay calm on the surface but paddle like hell!
