Skidmore Career Advisors know that majors don't necessarily reflect career paths.  Why?  Because they've lived it! 

Dan Kapp '17 majored in Management & Business and French during his time at Skidmore, and minored in Arts Administration.  He served as a Career Coach in the Career Development Center and was a member of LINE Art Magazine with the Tang Teaching Museum.

Megan Jackson, who advises students still deciding about their careers, caught up with Dan about his role within Skidmore's Career Advisor Network.

Megan: Hi Dan!  You've gone from being a career coach as a student to a career advisor as an alum.  Why is being part of the Career Advisor Network important to you?

Dan: The job search can seem daunting, helpless, and unfriendly. I like to help remind people that there are people here to support them, and people who have done it themselves recently! 

Megan: Why should Skidmore students reach out to you?

Dan:  Skidmore students should reach out to me if they have an interest in working in the arts or have questions about what sort of jobs are available in the art world for recent graduates. 

Megan: Thanks Dan!  As an advisor, what is your favorite piece of career advice?

Dan: Be yourself! Simple, but effective. You'll always be more confident in an interview if you're being your authentic self.
