Big Ideas Wanted 

The 2019 Competition

Students interested in participating in the Freirich Business Plan Competition must complete the Intent to Compete form, which is to be sent to Professor Roy Rotheim.

There will be a weekly business plan writing workshop in the fall term conducted by three senior Management and Business majors to be held on Sunday evenings 7 – 8:30 p.m. in Ladd 207. The first workshop occurs on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018.

Important Dates:

  • Business Plan Writing Workshop: weekly, October 14 – December 2
  • Draft of the Business Plan is due to Professor Rotheim on Friday, Jan. 18
  • Business Plan Writing Workshop resumes on Sunday, Jan. 27 (same time and location)
  • Business Plans due to Professor Rotheim by Noon, February 15
  • Dry Runs to be held on Monday – Thursday, Feb. 18 – 21
  • First Round of Presentations before a panel of Skidmore alumni entrepreneur judges (each of whom will serve as a mentor assigned to the finalists) – Friday afternoon February 22, Murray-Aikins Dining Hall, second floor
  • Finalists will be assigned to work individually with the three student mentors: Paige Durrant, Imara Joroff, and William Potter
  • Final Business Plans due to Professor Rotheim by Noon, March 29
  • Final Presentations before a new panel of Skidmore alumni judges -- Friday afternoon April 5, Murray-Aikins Dining Hall, second floor. Winners of the Competition (1st prize $20K; 2nd prize $10K; 3rd prize $5K; and 4th prize $2.5K) will be announced at a dinner following the judges’ deliberations occurring immediately after the presentations
