Anti-racism Activist, Author to Present Oct. 12 Program
Activist and author Tim Wise will speak Thursday, Oct. 12, in Gannett Auditorium.
Free and open to the public, the event gets under way at 7 p.m.
Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and activists in the U.S., having
spoken in 48 states and on more than 400 college campuses. He has trained teachers
as well as corporate, government, media, and law enforcement officials on methods
for dismantling racism in their institutions, and has served as a consultant for plaintiff's
attorneys in federal discrimination cases in New York and Washington states. Author
of White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son (New York: Soft Skull Press 2005), and Affirmative Action: Racial Preference in Black and White (New York: Routledge 2005), Wise also has contributed chapters or essays to 15 books.
