Thoroughbreds to travel, compete throughout holiday break

Skidmore's winter athletic teams will be back in action after a short mid-year break.

The men's basketball team will travel to Florida to challenge a pair of NCAA Division I teams. The 1-5 Thoroughbreds are at the University of North Florida Thursday, Dec. 28, and at Stetson University Friday, Dec. 30.

The 5-3 women's basketball team is off to the Bahamas for the Goombay Shootout. Skidmore will practice and scrimmage before taking on Daniel Webster College Saturday, Jan. 5.

The men's hockey team will look to improve on its 4-1-2 start when it competes in the Cod Fish Bowl Dec. 28-29 at UMass-Boston. Skidmore will play Framingham State in the first round at 2 p.m. Dec. 28.

The swimming and diving teams head to the Dominican Republic Tuesday, Jan. 2, for a week of training and an exhibition meet.

The first home event of 2007 will be Tuesday, Jan. 9, when the men's and women's basketball teams open Liberty League play at home against Union College. The women play at 6 p.m. with the men following at 8 p.m.
