Dec. 6 Film, Discussion on Social Disparities and Student Success

December 7, 2006

Skidmore's newly formed Black Faculty-Staff Group will host a film discussion and screening of the new documentary film What's Race Got to Do with It? at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in Gannett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall.

What's Race Got to Do with It? (California Newsreel, 2006) goes beyond identity politics, celebratory history, and interpersonal relations to consider social disparities and their impact on student success in today's post-Civil Rights world. Following the screening, Professors Kristie A. Ford (sociology) and Joshua C. Woodfork (American studies) will lead a discussion.

Admission is free and open to all.
