Awards
Deb Hall, associate professor of art, has received a Saratoga County Program for Arts Funding
2009 Artist Grant through the Saratoga County Arts Council to support a project titled
?On Two Wheels: Cycling in Saratoga.? She will create a body of work using digital
printmaking and photographs while engaging and collaborating with individuals and
local communities that cycle (motocycles, Vespas, mopeds, scooters, and bicycles).
Her digital printmaking will be a visual narrative that incorporates type, artifacts,
and drawings with photography.
Activities
Cori Filson, director of Off-Campus Study and Exchanges, presented a session titled ?Professionalizing
Our Field: Managing Workload and Salaries? at the November CIEE Conference on International
Educational Exchange held in Nashville, Tenn. The conference was titled ?Managing
Growth in Study Abroad.?
Dan Forbush, executive director of strategic communications, gave a talk on ?PR Strategy in the
Age of Social Networks? Dec. 10 in Albany, N.Y., before the Albany Chapter of the
Public Relations Society of America.
Donald McCormack, dean emeritus of special programs, is a member of the board of directors of the Kigali
Medical University Foundation, along with Beverly Mastrianni ?76. The foundation,
headed by John Streit of Greenfield, has secured 125 acres and raised $200,000 to
construct a medical school in the Rwandan capital city.
Publications
?That Galaxy,? a poem by Mary Kathryn Jablonski, was published in the December issue of Hudson Valley?s Chronogram magazine. Her chapbook titled To the Husband I Have Not Yet Met, published in 2008, will be reviewed by Nina Shengold in the magazine?s January 2009
issue. Jablonski, assistant to the director of the Schick Art Gallery, is also an
artist and poet.

Robert DeSieno, professor emeritus of computer science, is the author of ?For now, a chance for U.S.
to hope,? an opinion essay published in the Dec. 9 edition of the Albany Times Union.
