English Professor Steve Stern has a new book titled The Frozen Rabbi, released in May by Algonquin Books.

According to the publisher's Web site, the book is an "epic novel" that provides "a wildly entertaining yet deeply thoughtful look at the burdens inherent in handing down traditions from one generation to the next." The Frozen Rabbi offers readers "rare enchantment," writes Yael Goldstein Love in The San Francisco Chronicle. In a starred review, Booklist's Donna Seaman wrote, "Stern's uproarious and trouncing romp through the anguish and ironies of the Jewish diaspora matches mysticism with mayhem, beatitude with organized crime, creativity with crassness."
