Lei Ouyang Bryant, assistant professor of music, was the invited speaker Feb. 18 for the Macalester College (St. Paul, Minn.) Department of Asian Languages and Culture's Spring Seminar. The title of Bryant's talk was "Mao's Music: Songs and Memories of the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-1976)."
Mary Solomons, director of donor relations, was re-elected to the board of directors of the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP) at the organization's seventh annual international conference Dec. 6-8 in San Francisco. Solomons began her second term on the 16-member board in January 2011. Founded in 2004, the ADRP draws its membership from education, health care, fine arts and other nonprofit fields. Current membership totals more than 700 individuals from throughout the United States, Canada, and overseas.
Mary Zeiss Stange, professor of women's studies and religion, gave an hour-long interview about her book Hard Grass: Life on the Crazy Woman Bison Ranch, to KUNM New Mexico Public Radio's "Women's Focus" program, which aired Saturday, Feb. 19, and is available until March 6 in the archived programs at KUNM.org, and thereafter via podcast.

Corey Freeman-Gallant, associate dean of the faculty for academic advising and professor of biology, has published a paper titled "Relationship between brood sex ratio and male ornaments depends on male age in a warbler" in Animal Behavior, Vol. 81. Conor Taff '05 is first author.

Sandy Baum, professor emerita, economics, was one of four experts featured in a New York Times "Room for Debate." The article, which appeared online Feb. 21, was titled "Cutting Tuition: A First Step - What does it mean when a selective college announces a drop in its (expensive) prices?"
Mary Solomons, director of donor relations,was quoted in the March issue of CASE Currents in an article titled The Naming Game regarding gift agreement policies.
