Classics Department to host Homerathon! 2011

Skidmore's Classics Department will sponsor its annual "Homerathon!" - marathon reading of Homer, starting at 7 p.m.Tuesday, April 5, in the Intercultural Center.

This year's event will kick off with a dramatic reading of the ever-popular "Contest of the Bow" scene from the Odyssey, courtesy of the students of CC 200 (Classical World). Food and drink will be served.All members of the Skidmore community - students, faculty, and staff - are invited to attend and to participatein the annual celebration of all that is Homer and Homeric poetry. 

For at least a decade, the Classics Department has hostedHomerathon!, a multi-disciplinary celebration of the life, works, and legacy of Homer, the foremost poet of the classical world.  As the name implies, it is a marathon evening of readings, performances, and anything (everything?) else.Those attending are asked to bring their Homers and any other poetry you'd care to read.  It's going to be epic!

WHEN:  Tuesday, April 5, 7 p.m. until the gods know when

WHERE:  Intercultural Lounge, second floor Case Center

WHY:  Because tradition demands it!
