Three Thoroughbred teams headed into post-season action this past weekend before seeing their seasons end in tournament competition.

Women's tennis earned a 5-0 win over Castleton in the opening round of the NCAA tournament, prior to falling to Middlebury in the second round. Against Castleton, sophomore Nataly Mendoza (San Francisco, Calif.) and freshman Molly Nolan (Montauk, N.Y.) each went 2-0. Skidmore ends its season with an 11-9 record.

Men's tennis suffered a tough 5-4 loss to TCNJ in the second round of the NCAA tournament to end the Thoroughbreds season. Freshman Jimmy Sherpa (West Vancouver, B.C.) posted a pair of victories, winning at number six singles and teaming with senior Spencer Cheng (Wainbridge Island, Wash.) to win at number-one doubles.   Skidmore finishes its 2010-11 campaign with a 10-8 record.

Baseball dropped a pair of one-run games in the rain-shortened Liberty League tournament at Rensselaer this past weekend. Seniors Rob Rubenstein (Highland Park, N.J.) and Trevor Brucato (Stamford, Conn.) earned All-Tournament Team honors. The Thoroughbreds close their season with 26-13 record. ~ By Cody Berschwinger
