Millhauser reading announced

March 2, 2012

Professor of English Steven Millhauser will give a reading of his works at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in Davis Auditorium of Palamountain Hall. He is expected to read from his newest book, We Others: New and Selected Stories, released last fall. It is a collection of stories "united in their unfailing power to surprise and enchant," notes the publisher.

Boston Sunday Globe critic David Rollow writes, "Every reader knows of writers who are like secrets one wants to keep, and whose books one wants to tell the world about. Millhauser is mine."

We Othersis a finalist for two prestigious literary prizes to be awarded this spring:

- The Story Prize, the richest prize of any annual U.S. book award for fiction. Established in 2004 to honor short-story collections, the $20,000 prize is underwritten by the Chisholm Foundation. The Story Prize winner will be announced March 21 in New York.

- The PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, America's largest peer-juried prize for fiction, to be announced March 26.
