Honor

Mary DiSanto-Rose
Mary DiSanto-Rose, associate professor of dance, will receive an honorary degree from St. Lawrence
University at the school's May 20 commencement ceremony. She and Garry Trudeau, creator
of Doonesbury, will receive honorary degrees at that time while Indian Lake Spanish teacher Martha
Swan, founder of the organization John Brown Lives! will receive the North Country
Citation, an annual recognition that the university presents to an individual or organization
in the region that has improved the quality of life in the North Country.
DiSanto-Rose, who in 1975 earned a degree in chemistry from St. Lawrence, holds masters and doctoral
degrees from Temple University. She has been a Skidmore faculty member since 1981
and serves on numerous New York State and independent dance and dance education groups.
She performs as a guest artist with the Isadora Duncan International Institute of
New York City and has re-staged a number of classic modern dance works.
Activities
Lei Ouyang Bryant, assistant professor of music, presented a paper titled "MuDaiko: Taiko Drumming Between East and West" as part of the symposium "New Research in Asian and American Music" at the University of Pittsburgh March 24. The symposium brought together 12 students of Dr. Bell Yung in celebration of his 31 years of teaching at the University of Pittsburgh. More details here.
Tim Harper, associate professor and chair, Department of Management and Business, is co-author (with P.J. Harper) of "A View of CSP from the Top: Exploring Antecedents of Leader Personal Social Performance" to be presented at the 49 th annual meeting of the Eastern Academy of Management this May in Philadelphia.
Linda Simon, professor of English, delivered a paper titled "Battling the 'invincible predator': Alzheimer's Disease as Metaphor," April 12 at the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association conference in Boston.

Exhibition
Doretta Miller, professor of studio art, has eight oil paintings displayed in "Essence of Pose", curated by LARAC Gallery Coordinator Jenny Hutchinson. The exhibition opened April 7 at the Thomas Lapham Gallery, 7 Lapham Place, Glens Falls, and runs through May 2.
