Skidmore College

Fall's (sugary) bounty embraced

October 31, 2014

A special Skidmore Halloween tradition involves students living in Sussman and Northwoods villages, who distribute candy to pint-sized visitors on the Sunday prior to Halloween. On the holiday itself, Skidmore’s youngest students—those enrolled in the Early Childhood Center Preschool and the Greenberg Child Care Center—walk around campus accompanied by their teachers and Skidmore student helpers. They visit the offices of their parents and campus friends, and are generously rewarded. Some find their way to the fourth floor of Palamountain Hall, where President Philip A. Glotzbach and his coworkers offer a warm welcome and holiday fare.

No tricks, only treats for the parade of tiny superheroes, princesses, ghosts, and other costumed children hiking the campus, gathering goodies.
