Skidmore well represented at WTC

June 5, 2015

This year Skidmore sent its largest team yet—40 people—to the 2015 CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge, held May 21 in Albany.

The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is a 3.5-mile road race open to teams of employees from corporations, businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, not-for-profit corporations, and financial institutions. More than 10,000 runners and walkers from 500-plus organizations registered in this, the 36th year for the event.

Skidmore’s top runners were Joe Murphy (Residential Life), with a time of 22:28 and Erin Lopez (Mathematics and Computer Science), with a time of 22:49. This was the 26th year that Skidmore sent a team to the event, and it was the 20th year that Gove Effinger (Mathematics and Computer Science emeritus) participated. Effinger previously organized Skidmore’s entry, a responsibility now shared by Murphy and Darren Drabek (Student Academic Services).

A total of 50 people registered to participate but an accident on the Northway (I-87) made travel to the event impossible for several people. Others backed out due to last-minute complications. Of the 40 who did participate, 28 were new this year to the event and 12 were veterans. Virtually all attended the traditional post-race dinner, held this year at Peddler’s in Clifton Park.
