Engineering a career

July 14, 2017

Prof. John Cunningham

Sculptor, engineer, and design thinker John Cunningham marks his entry into the emeritus faculty ranks by reflecting on his 50 years at Skidmore, including his 1980s epiphany and public demonstration of how ancient laborers could carry huge stones for the pyramids on thin wooden poles, his patents and headlines, and his recent explorations in digital design and 3D printing for his signature buglike sculptures and other works.

The interviewer and videomaker is his recent student August Bomer-Lawson ’17.
