Pat Fehling, Class of 1948 Chair for Excellence in Teaching and chair, Department of Health and Exercise Sciences has published an article in Osteoporosis and Physical Activity (2014), entitled ”Preliminary Study: The Relationship between Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors and Bone Health and Muscle Function in College Students.” Her co-authors are former students Molly Gile ’13 and Lauren Conway ’13. Casey Schofield, assistant professor of psychology at Skidmore, was a consultant with this research.

Additionally, an article, “Effect of exercise, heat stress and dehydration on myocardial performance” was published in Occupational Medicine (2015) from Skidmore’s First Responder Health and Safety Laboratory. Fehling and Denise Smith, professor of health and exercise sciences, are the primary authors as well as former students Wes Lefferts ’11 and Eric Hultquist ’11. Other collaborators included Jeanne Haller (First Responder Lab).

Helen Knowles, visiting assistant professor of government, was a source for an Associated Press story titled “Gay Mentor, Belief in Dignity at Roots of Kennedy’s Views.” The story moved April 15 on the AP wire and appeared on numerous news sites, including The New York Times.
