Heather Hurst

Heather Hurst, associate professor of anthropology, was named a Frederick Burkhardt fellow by the American Council of Learned Societies. The fellowship program is designed to aid recently tenured faculty and is funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Burkhardt fellowships carry a $95,000 stipend and a $7,500 research budget and allow awardees to take up yearlong residencies at institutions whose resources and scholarly communities are suited to facilitate a proposed research project. Hurst's project is titled "IDEAS in Cultural Heritage: Preserving Maya Murals through Imaging, Documentation, Education, Access, and Sustainability—Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage at Yale University in 2018–2019."

Bill Jones

Bill Jones, athletic marketing manager in the Office of Communications and Marketing, was named to the 2018 Hall of Fame class by the College Sports Information Directors of America. As a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference-Sports Information Directors of America, Jones was a seven-year member of the board of directors from 1995 to 2002, including serving as president in 2000–01. He received the ECAC-SIDA Irving T. Marsh Award in 2004 and its Pete Nevins award in 2011.
