Skidmore Spotlight: Jenna Pitera

September 7, 2018
Jenna Pitera

Jenna Pitera works as a science librarian in the Scribner Library. Pitera Joined Skidmore in 2017 from a previous position at RPI.

At Skidmore, Pitera teaches information literacy sessions, helps students with research, “cheerleads” the science collection to students and faculty and more.

“Librarians have tons of variety in their jobs – basically, we’re around to help people learn,” said Pitera.

She continued, “I love my position because the faculty and students on this campus are so interesting. I come home every day with new information about science, culture, the environment and health. There is never a dull day and I’m always learning.”

Pitera said that some of her favorite events on campus are the Admissions barbecues and picnics for prospective families. “It is exciting to meet the students I might be teaching in the next couple years … I have yet to meet a prospective student who doesn’t completely impress me with their poise, interest and drive.”

When not at Skidmore, Pitera said she’s busy keeping up with her family as they explore the many beautiful areas in the region. And, she said, “Like most librarians, I love to read.”
