Here's what some of our Greenberg Childcare Center (GCC) teachers have to say about their time here with our Skidmore families and community.

Denise Bruno 

Denise is a GCC teacher in the Infant Room. This is her 8th year.

She was a nanny for 14 years prior to Skidmore with local families in Saratoga.

Went to school for Early Childhood. Heard about GCC and possibility of her visiting to observe and acquire some teaching experience. After high school she sought out possible employment with local daycare centers in town and forgot about GCC. Her mom in law works with Skidmore's HR office, who advised her of the available position.

Denise enjoys Skidmore's community where everyone knows each other. Everyone has an affiliation/connection with one another. She appreciates the opportunity to have her kids also attend the school.

She enjoys working with the babies. Although she went to school for Early Childhood and is certified through 7th , she doesn't enjoying having to do the worksheet aspect and common core testing requirements. She thoroughly enjoys the nuturing and caretaking of babies.

What makes working at GCC special, you get to enjoy the kids moving/transition through each of the classes/spaces and connect with all of the Center's teachers.

Some of the GCC teachers get to babysit too (after the GCC class & school experience) and stay connected with each of their families.

Some of her favorite Skidmore traditions or events:
Vendor and benefit fairs, themed dinners, ice cream social, welcoming BBQ in September. Campus-wide retirement and employee recognition lunch which invite all to come together and be able to interact with everyone that you won’t have a chance to do otherwise.

She enjoys spending time with family and their family pets: 2 cats and 1 dog. Making family dinners together, minigolf and bowling. Breakfast times with the family too.


Jennifer Marquette

Is a GCC teacher in the Infant Room. She has been with Skidmore for 18 years.

She was drawn to Skidmore because of its sense of family and community. She wanted to stay local and able to work in a small community daycare. She did not want to work for a large corporate daycare. 

GCC is a very well established local daycare, going on 33+ years. She heard about the available position and applied. The sense of family and community and the opportunity to have her own son attend as well was a huge draw.

Jennifer enjoys the opportunity to experience each of the momentous moments with each of the babies, their "first" words, crawling, steps, etc.

Teachers who work at GCC, are here for a long time. They  get to connect with all of the kids, as they help cover one another while on lunches/breaks, etc. The kids get to meet and know everyone in the center. Which makes it easy when transitioning from one grade to the other. The kids get to interact with everyone. Siblings get to see each other throughout the day.

There are many local families who insist on staying on the "waiting list" going past the infant room originally request. They are willing to start their child at whatever age/level they are able to get in, whether infant room, pre-school and older rooms which attests to GCC's reputation.

Some of her favorite Skidmore traditions or events:
Love the opportunities to connect with the kids and their families. GCC community fall pumpkin patch where local farm donates pumpkins for the kids and the center provides snacks and treats for the kids to enjoy. Visits and walks around the local Skidmore neighborhood are extra special too such as visits to the Riggi house over the holidays. The older kids: take the city bus from the Case Center towards downtown Saratoga for a picnic lunch and visit to Saratoga library.  

Community. Love and appreciate the opportunities to engage with our Skidmore families. GCC have a number of former students who stop by often to reconnect. Older siblings come by to help pick up/drop off their younger siblings.

Jennifer enjoys spending time with her son and family.
