Dear Classmates,
Arriving in Saratoga Springs mid-summer is unlike arriving any other time of the year. The downtown shops were packed with beautiful temptations, flowers everywhere, Congress Park manicured to perfection, and on Union Avenue horses were being led back and forth across the street – heads held high with confidence – the excitement of a possible big win in the air. Driving through the Skidmore entrance was also exciting with the new Zankel Music Center under construction and the campus more beautiful than ever. The flower gardens, maturing trees, our Memorial Garden – are all colorful and welcoming.
The plan for our new campus is more evident every year, and it certainly was a good one. I met with Balli, Marcie and Jo for three days of planning our 55th Reunion – May 28-31, 2009. Jo and Balli are serving as Reunion Chairs, and Marcie is, as always, doing just about everything with her usual indefatigable enthusiasm. It was certainly an upbeat session. You will hear from them soon as to the theme and plans for the weekend. We had a wonderful cocktail party/dinner at the Gideon Putnam Thursday night, and dinner with many speakers on the campus Friday night. Mike Sposili, Tim Clemmey, and Anne Delauney from the Advancement Office were with us throughout the three days, along with others. They were terrific to work with and will shepherd us along. Put the dates for our Reunion, May 28-31, in your 2009 calendar and plan to come. It will be a wonderful weekend of renewed friendships, warm and happy memories, and lots of laughs and fun.
You will be hearing from me again as soon as plans start to gel, and I hope you will send me your thoughts and suggestions. If you live in an area with a number of other classmates, please consider planning a get-together in the spring. I hope to plan something for Boston, New York/New Jersey, and possibly Chicago. I would love to have some help with this.
I hope you are well and had a wonderful summer with family and friends, and plan to attend our 55th next May 28-31, 2009.
With my very best regards,
Connie
