The Strategic Action Agenda (SAA), issued annually by the President, focuses the College’s shared efforts on key initiatives within the current Strategic Plan.

Each SAA priority advances one of the Strategic Plan’s six foundations through a defined institutional action, identifying a select number of College-wide efforts for coordinated attention, while broader work in support of the Plan continues across the institution.

This approach helps ensure both accountability and momentum.

Foundation 1: Creativity and Academic Excellence

Priority: Mission Statement Revision

Action: Revise Skidmore’s Mission Statement to clearly express the College’s distinctive purpose, values, and educational identity.

Foundation 2: The Skidmore Student Experience

Priority: Residential Experience Curriculum

Action: Launch the Residential Experience Curriculum with a shared educational vision, phased implementation plan, and approach to assessment.

Foundation 3: Opportunities of a Skidmore Education

Priority: Goals for Student Learning and Development

Action: Revise Skidmore’s institutional learning goals to articulate what a Skidmore education is intended to cultivate in all students.

Foundation 4: Inclusive Community

Priority: Task Force on Accessibility

Action: Complete the Task Force on Accessibility’s campus-wide engagement process and bring forward recommendations for institutional action and ongoing shared-governance oversight.

Foundation 5: Environmental Sustainability

Priority: The North Woods Project

Action: Support faculty in integrating social, economic, and environmental sustainability across the curriculum through workshops, course development grants, and place-based learning.

Foundation 6: Financial Future

Priority: Financial Sustainability Efforts

Action: Implement the faculty Voluntary Separation Incentive Program (VSIP), and as staff positions become vacant, continue to pursue restructuring of offices/units, supporting responsible resource stewardship.

The SAA is endorsed by the Institutional Policy and Planning Committee (IPPC) and approved by the Board of Trustees.
