The Skidmore College Board of Trustees
The Skidmore College Board of Trustees has 40 authorized voting seats. Thirty-six trustees are elected by the Board upon recommendation of the Trusteeship Committee, and four are elected in conjunction with the Skidmore College Alumni Association. Elected trustees serve four-year terms; however, Young Alumni Trustees serve two-year terms. Officers are elected annually, with terms beginning June 1. Eligible retired members may be named life, emeritus, or fellow trustee depending on years of service and vote of the Board.
The Board fulfills its responsibilities through the action and recommendation of the standing committees. These include Executive, Academic Affairs, Trusteeship, and Audit & Risk Management. Other committees cover Investment, Budget, Finance & Infrastructure, Advancement, Communications and Marketing, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Strategic Planning, and Student Life and Admissions.
The full Board typically meets in October, February, and May, while committees meet throughout the year as needed. Trustee candidates generally come from among Skidmore alumni, parents, and friends who have demonstrated sustained interest in and support for the College’s goals and programs.
