Dear Skidmore Community,

We have been notified of suspicious online activity that has targeted Skidmore community members and alumni to obtain personal information.

The activity includes email messages and the creation of at least one fake social media (Instagram) account. Messages that appear to have been sent by the College or through a fake social media account seeking personal information are fraudulent.

The College will never ask you to share your password, account details or personal information, and will not reach out via social media to obtain personal information.

If you receive this type of request from an email or direct message from a non-Skidmore email address or a similar request from what appears to be a colleague’s social media account, please delete it and do not click on links, respond or provide any personal details. Please also report this activity to the IT Help Desk or by emailing helpdesk@skidmore.edu.

We ask all members of the community to be on alert for email and social media scams, and to contact the IT Help Desk as soon as possible if you notice any suspicious emails or social media activity.
