Campus polling site information for Election Day

October 28, 2020

The campus polling site in the Center, located on the second floor of Case Center across from the InterCultural Center (ICC), will be open Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for voting.

Where to vote

Safety and rules

  • Please remember your mask. It must be worn when in the polling site.
  • There will be 6-foot social distancing markers.
  • Saratoga Board of Elections COVID-19 Safety Protocol can be viewed here.
  • Saratoga County Board of Elections will post signs indicating that within a 100-foot distance from the polling site:
o There can be no electioneering (campaigning or canvassing).
o No political banner, button, poster or placard shall be allowed.
o It is against the law to tamper with the signs in any way.

What to expect inside the polling site

  • One of two election inspectors will provide you a ballot.
  • There may be several poll watchers in the room.
o Poll watchers observe irregularities and report those observations to the election inspectors or the Board of Elections. They may not intimidate voters or engage in other unauthorized conduct.
  • There will be instructions on how to contact the appropriate official if a voter’s right to vote has been violated.
  • Once you have voted, you will depart through the side entrance.
  • No one other than election inspectors, poll watchers and voters should be inside the polling place. However, Student Affairs and Campus Safety staff may make periodic short visits.
  • Because polling site security is a law enforcement matter, there will likely be a uniformed law enforcement presence on campus when the polling site is open.

Rights

  • If the polls close while you’re still in line, stay in line – you have the right to vote.
  • If you make a mistake on your ballot, ask for a new one.
  • If the machines are down at your polling place, ask for a paper ballot.
  • If you are at the correct polling location but are not on the list, you can still cast a ballot. Ask the poll worker for a provisional ballot.
  • If you have a problem voting and think your rights have been denied, call (866) OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683).
