Introducing Skidmore’s Loyalty Circle

November 9, 2021

Skidmore’s Loyalty Circle — formerly known as the 1903 Society — is getting an upgrade this year! The new name better reflects what the program and its members represent, which is loyalty, community, and unwavering dedication to their alma mater. The Loyalty Circle recognizes alumni who have given to the College for three or more consecutive years, or for more recent graduates, those who have given since their graduation.

The Loyalty Circle is co-chaired by Susan G. Beckerman '67, Abby Goldenthal '08, and Matt Lueckheide '17, who have been working hard behind the scenes to prepare for this launch.

Susan Beckerman shared about the launch, “I have been involved in this program since its inception in 2016. I couldn’t be happier that Skidmore continues to find ways to acknowledge loyal and consistent donor participation. I am thrilled that we now have a name that is recognizable and representative of the program. The symbol of the Circle evokes each member’s recurring support, often at the same season each year. Other aspects of the Circle will emerge as we roll out our plan to create opportunities for Loyalty Circle members to be more engaged with the College and each other.”

Today, the Loyalty Circle comprises more than 3,500 diverse donors, with class years ranging from the Class of 1938 to the Class of 2021 and consecutive giving years ranging from two years to 40+ years.

Matt Lueckheide notes about his young alumni co-chair role, “As the young alumni voice for this program, I am looking forward to our efforts to connect with the younger classes and get them excited about consecutive giving. Starting this as a young alumni lets us watch Skidmore evolve as a result of our giving over our entire lives!”

The Loyalty Circle will continue the tradition of celebrating members when they first join, on their birthdays, and when they reach special milestones (such as 10 and 30 years of consecutive giving).

Abby Goldenthal says about our ongoing stewardship efforts, “I love that our special recognition programs offer moments to personally connect and get to know our community. It’s fun to hear from old friends on their birthdays each year, and it’s rewarding to learn how our library book dedications to honor 30-year members are so meaningful and personal.”
