Sustainability captures the inter-connectedness of the environment, economy and society, and it's a key focus at Skidmore. 

Did you know?

• A 2.4 MW solar field built in 2014 provides 12% of Skidmore’s electricity needs.
• Skidmore's Community Garden grows and sells 1000 lbs of organic produce food to Skidmore's dining hall annually.
• Skidmore offers a free on-campus bike-share called BikeMore, which provides over 1,000 riders to students each semester
• The Skidmore Compost Managers operate a residential composting program to the Sussman and Northwoods Apartments. They also collect coffee grounds from Burgess, Spa, and D-Hall. They turn 10,000 lbs of food waste and coffee grounds into rich compost each year.
• Skidmore is ranked #34 in Princeton Review's "Top 50 Green Schools” for 2018.

These practices and more have led many Skidmore students to the pursuit of successful sustainability careers within business, nonprofit organizations, start-ups, and government.

On Friday, November 16, the Office of Sustainability and the CDC  host Sustainability Careers 101, a conference to introduce students to professionals working in sustainability-oriented careers. Panelists include:

• Brendan Woodruff ’09, Environmental Program Specialist at NYS Department of Environmental Conservation
