Professor Du received a Ph.D. in computer science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, completing a dissertation titled Advancing Smart Traffic Management Systems through Reinforcement Learning: Optimizing Traffic Signal Control for Urban Mobility and Safety. Before coming to Skidmore, Professor Du worked as a software engineer at Alpine Electronics of America. Professor Du’s current research interests include applied AI in transportation, finance, and video games, as well as large language models and robotics. Prof. Du teaches computer science courses at all levels, with a focus on data structures and the theory of computation.
